What a great weekend for Torico Torico riderss were at 2 locations this weeked with a few of us a the FOD 661 mini downhill event and steve and WIll at the KONA MASH UP At the forest of dean Joel Anderson managed a very good 5th in the juvenile category and in doing so he beat me by a country mile - the least said about my performance the better!. Isaac, Joels' older brother managed to get himself onto the podium in 3rd place in the youth category. In seniors Ben Deakin came 2nd ( on his hardtail) with Andy Payne in 5th( also on a hardtail) and Rob Wareham in 6th position. The conditions were pretty miserable with large mud pits making some of the younger ( and older riders like myself) really struggle to keep momentum going! Anway we had a great weekend and next weekend sees more racing at Bratton Also last weekend Will Sofe and Steve Atkins headed over to the Kona Mash up at the Glyncrrwg (Afan). The format of the Mash up is a little different from your normal DH race. You have your timing chip on your leg you ride to the start of the first timed stage do your run and then carry on riding until you get to the next stage and so on.You need to race a minimum off all three timed tracks, but you can go back and do them as many times as you like…A very wet start greeted Will and Steve as they started the 55 minutes climb to the top of the mountain, and to the first of three timed stages of the black run. They did one big loop of the three timed tracks about 12 miles in all. Steve punctured on the last track so they went round again... some how…In the end Will had a very good result for his first enduro type DH in 11th , and steven mentioned he was riding a much longer track it would seem and ended up in 77th Well done to Will and Steve reckons hes off to do a bit more winter training!!
